It’s been awhile since the last version updates, finally the long wait is over as 6.68 debuts with four new heroes just like what we’ve seen from the teaser trailer that was released some days ago.
Another interesting stuff would be the changes on game play, which includes the new gold mechanic wherein your gold is classified into two; reliable and unreliable gold. Say goodbye to Arcane Ring as well that was replaced by Arcane Boots, which seems to be more effective and much efficient. And last but not the least, the newly reworked captain’s mode wherein instead of the traditional 4 bans then 5 picks, it is now 3 bans and then 3 picks followed by 2 bans and 2 picks. Few details about these new features and changes can be seen below.
New Mechanic: Reliable and Unreliable Gold
Originally posted by IceFrog on his blog two weeks ago, he explained the new gold mechanic concept.
Basically, Reliable Gold is the bounty that you can get from hero kills or from the extra gold bonus such as from assists. This will be added on the player’s reliable gold pool. Unreliable Gold is everything else such as creep kills, neutrals, etc.

He also explained that dying will only take away the gold from the player’s Unreliable Gold pool. However, buying items use up the Unreliable Gold first.
New Hero: Io, the Guardian Wisp
Io, the Guardian Wisp appears as a new hero having high numbers on his Intelligence than his primary attribute which is Strength. He plays as a support/gank type of hero having his nature-given powers.

His Tether ability connects himself to one of his allies which grants them both bonuses in movement speed. Any enemy units which dare to contact the tether will be stunned. However, if it stretches beyond its limits it will break. Tether last for about 12 seconds and can transfer other states on the hero to his allied unit, which includes Overcharge and Relocate; his two other abilities.
Io can also summon Spirits, which can dance around him making him untouchable to his enemies. It does have 30% slow within 300 areas of effect and can deal a massive amount of damage depending on the number of Spirits. Non hero units like creeps will only take minor damage upon touching a spirit and this does not cause them to explode.
Overcharge, on the other hand, enables Io to draw more energy which he can safely handle. This grants him bonus attack speed in exchange of draining his HP and MP every second. If Io is tethered to one of his allies, the bonus attack speed will be also granted to it.
And finally, Io’s ultimate ability, the Relocate. It temporary enables to teleport himself, along with any tethered hero to a certain target location on the map. It has a casting delay and visual indicators for the enemy on the mini map. Io can break the tether at any time to prevent that hero from returning with him.
New Item: Arcane Boots
Tired of wearing Boots of Travel, Power Treads, Phase Boots repeatedly?

It’s time to pimp your hero’s feet up!
The ultimate supportive vestment for spell casters has just arrived! IceFrog brings to us the Aracne Boots with a special introductory price of 1,500 gold. These pairs of sneakers can be forged by combining Boots of Speed and an Energy Booster. This gives your hero an additional 65 movement speed plus 250 MP that can be replenished (same mechanic with the previous Arcane Ring).
Imagine having this with Earthshaker and Zeus? Perfect!
One more good thing about it is that it can be disassembled at your base! Now that’s what we are talking about.
So these are only some of the few changes that you will notice but I really recommend you guys to get the latest map and read the complete changelog from www.mineski.net/forum/downloads.php
That’s all for now folks! See you all in-game.
Update:
6.68b has been quickly released to fix a major bug with Techies Remote Mines as well as the issue between Geomancer and Arcane Boots. Guardian Wisp has been restricted to teleport to the enemy fountain and fixed an issue with his Relocate. An issue between Gyrocopter’s Flak Cannon with buildings and illusions has been also fixed.
