I've been playing wc3tft over at Vietnam recently to pass time and I noticed that every game has referees enabled. And I asked my viet friends why.
1.) To literally watch and learn from different playstyles. This collective way of learning has not yet influenced our culture.
2.) To check if each player(s) are clean of hack/bug/glitch exploits.
3.) To teach the participating players afterward what mistakes they have committed and what they should have done instead. Again, this way of error-correction teaching has not influenced our culture.
Now, I suggest that in each game(or as frequent as possible), that MG implements game referees in the room to oversee the game. Why? Mainly because of maphackers. The only way to catch a maphacker is through maphack(explained by my sad sad friend who uses maphack). Like for example, Sven is chasing Rylai in the jungle. Rylai jukes in the trees but Sven moves towards Rylai albeit the fog. Rylai tries to move the other way around, and almost as soon as Rylai turns, Sven does as well. And this goes on until either player stops moving to type "MH ka t*ng ina mo!", then gets eaten up by the other player. It would be unfair if X player got over 9000 kills because he is Storm Spirit and balls toward the jungling Mortred every single time she enters the woods. Referees can see all this, and quickly make the desicion of either taking a screenshot and reporting it here, or directly speaking to one of the CA's(this would require the referee to be a trusted individual though).
Another thing that referees would benefit from is from watching the game. I know some of you hardcore gamers out there just want to game, but even a 6-year old avid dota player enjoys sitting back and enjoying a replay or two everyday. And why settle for a replay when you can watch it live with all the chat between teams(this is one of the more fun parts :D)
To those of you who might think that wow, I'm gonna spend my hour babysitting a couple of people I don't know? Well, you don't have to sit throughout the whole game. I think 20 minutes is enough to expose any maphacker(if any).
Tell me what you guys think.
P.S. over a year since I've been in MG or the site D: good to be back though
