Astralis was able to claim their second Counter-Strike:Global Offensive Major tournament title after sweeping Natus Vincere, 2-0, in the best-of-three grand finals of the FACEIT Major: London 2018.
After a more than a year since winning the ELEAGUE Major: Atlanta 2017, Astralis were once again hailed as the best CS:GO team in the world as they emerge on top of the 24-team tournament held at London, United Kingdom. The Danish squad claimed their second Valve-sanctioned tournament title over Na’Vi in a lopsided duel at Nuke and Overpass.
The grand finals kicked off at Astralis’ map pick, Nuke, but it was their opponent who opened with a convincing set of pistol rounds for a quick 3-0 lead. Unfortunately for Na’Vi, that was the only time in the grand finals that they were able to lead their co-grand finalist as Astralis proceeded to pull off a nine-map streak. If not for Denis “electronic” Sharipov’s clutch during the 13th round, the CIS powerhouse won’t be able to stop Astralis from their tracks.

Na’Vi opened another impressive pistol round after the switch as Terrorists, but it wasn’t enough to sway Astralis from finishing them off. The Ukrainian squad failed to penetrate the defense of the Counter-Terrorists, forcing to give up the first map,16-6, with their superstar, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, as the bottom fragger.
Overpass was Na’Vi’s map pick, but like how Nuke opened, it was their opponent who dominated the first four rounds. Unlike the first map, however, the Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko-led squad was able to contain Astralis despite committing two costly mistakes. The first half ended, 6-9, in favor of Astralis thanks to Peter “dupreeh” Rothmann’s heroics.

Astralis opened the second half like how they closed the first one. A five-map streak put Na’Vi on the line, failing to find an answer to even during the first full gun round. With momentum on their side, Astralis proceeded to take the map, ultimately leaving Na’Vi winless in a grand final of a Major tournament.
Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz was crowned as the tournament MVP with a team-leading 1.26 rating. Astralis’ AWPer also scored the lowest death per round average at 0.55, while having an average of 0.80 kills per round.
