VG 2017 World Championship Day 2 Recap
The 2nd day of the Razer 2017 Vainglory World Championship started off bright and early on the secondary stream to finish off the remaining groups stage matches from day 1.
ACE Gaming and Hunters successfully qualify for the Semifinals while Team SoloMid is eliminated.
The 8 remaining teams were set to to face each other in best-of-five quarterfinals matches. Singapore’s Impunity faced their next challenge in China’s Team Kraken after their impressive 1-1 encounter with the defending world champions, ROX Armada in the group stage.
Beware Impunity
Team Impunity pull off upset after upset as they took on the 2nd seed from China. The crowd at the Kallang Theater in Singapore was behind their home team, which no doubt gave Impunity the boost they needed in order to take down Team Kraken.
The second quarterfinals series of Day 2 ended with a 3-1 victory for Impunity, keeping the Singaporean dream alive in the world championship.
And Then There Were Four
Tribe Gaming also continue their amazing run in the tournament despite being a wildcard invite by taking out the sole EU representatives, G2 Esports.
The tournament favorites ACE Gaming experienced difficulty in their match against PaiN Gaming which went to the final fifth game. However, ACE were able to triumph over the South American representatives to advance to the semifinals.
NA’s Cloud9 were their usual dominant selves as they made quick work of China’s Hunters. The series ended in a swift 3-0 to bring C9 that much closer to the world championship title.
Day 3 of the Razer 2017 Vainglory World Championship will start at 2:00 SGT with Tribe Gaming facing off against their fellow NA representatives, Cloud9.
