Mineski-Dota is the seventh team to announce their withdrawal

Southeast Asian powerhouse Mineski-Dota also decided to back down from the Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds, a premier Dota 2 tournament which will be held in the Philippines this January, following Valve’s decision to revoke the tournament’s Major status due to the host country’s ‘new government regulations for esports players’.

Mineski-Dota announced their decision in a Facebook post made tonight. According to the statement, their latest Dota 2 roster was focused on qualifying for The International 2018 since its inception last year. The removal of the Galaxy Battles from the Dota Pro Circuit prompted their withdrawal and will focus instead on all upcoming Valve-sanctioned

Before Mineski-Dota’s announcement, six internationally-acclaimed Dota 2 teams, Virtus.pro, Team Liquid, Team Secret, OpTic Gaming, Newbee, and Team Kinguin, have also opted out of the Dota Pro Circuit point-less competition.

The last four teams to back out, OpTic Gaming, Newbee, and Team Kinguin, and Mineski-Dota released their decision after Fallout Gaming, the organizers of the Galaxy Battles tournament series, said, on Saturday night, that the tournament will still go on as planned despite the cut in its prize pool and the removal of the coveted Dota Pro Circuit points.

As of the writing, eight qualified teams, TNC Pro Team, OG, Infamous, LGD.ForeverYoung, Evil Geniuses, Team Spirit, VGJ.Thunder, and *paiN Gaming are yet to officially announce whether they will still join the tournament.
