The Best from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines make up SEA’s New Super Team
Mineski-Dota put yet another LAN appearance in the bag after defeating TNC Pro Team, 3-1, in the best-of-five grand finals of the Captain’s Draft 4.0 Southeast Asia Qualifiers.
The team formed by Mushi, Moon, iceiceice, Jabz, and ninjaboogie has been so efficient that both TNC Pro Team’s captain and midlaner, 1437 and Kuku, respectively, tweeted about giving Mineski direct invites so that other SEA teams have a chance to qualify.

Behold: the iceiceice effect carried over from Faceless
Disregarding their best-of-one duel at The International 2017 SEA Qualifiers, Mineski-Dota and TNC Pro Team have met for a total of six times in patches 7.06 and 7.07. In five best-of-threes and one best-of-five, TNC Pro Team was able to take four games off of Mineski but were never able to win a single series.
Mineski-Dota won five out of six regional qualifiers for the Dota Pro Circuit since the start of the 2017-2018 Dota 2 season. A portion of the Dota 2 community thought that the SEA powerhouse’s streak would suffer come 7.07, but their qualification at the Captain’s Draft 4.0 only solidified their dominance.
During the post-The International 2017 roster shuffle, EternaLEnVy’s move to Fnatic-Dota, TNC Pro Team’s proven firepower, and Execration’s comeback with Raging Potato produced so much promise for the region. Come the actual season, however, none of them live up to the hype except, so far, for Mineski-Dota, a team more known for its slumps than triumphs.
In one month, Mineski-Dota achieved a 70.59% win rate in 34 matches played, this includes their games from PGL Open Bucharest Minor where they gave SEA its first championship from a Valve-sponsored event. Among the other SEA teams, the next best record comes from TNC Pro Team’s 58.82% win percentage in 17 matches.
It seems that Kenchi Yap is accomplishing what he set out to do all along: create the Southeast Asian dream team.
The current King of SEA title currently belongs to TNC Pro Team, The International 2017 9-12th placer. However, with the current trend in the SEA competitive scene, is it time for Mineski-Dota to claim the crown?
