PH Reps Crash Out Of WESG APAC 2017

Their gallant runs come to an end

More blood was drawn as Day 3 of the World Electronic Sports Games 2017 wrapped up earlier today. All Filipino representatives in Hearthstone, Dota 2, StarCraft 2, and CS:GO were eliminated in the heat of the competition. The below-zero degree weather in the windy city of Jiazhou, China finally caught up to the players as they weren’t playing up to their full potential in the frigid environment.

Dota squad HappyFeet struggled to get going against Chinese team Keen Gaming. The Penguins were easily swept by the acclimated hometown team 2-0 and were mostly powerless to resist against Keen Gaming. Julz‘s heroics in both games of the series could not save HappyFeet from tough international opponents. Another reason for HappyFeet’s struggles could be their chemistry with newly acquired played Boombacs who has been with the team for less than a month. Fortunately, since they secured Top 8 in the tournament overall they will be playing in the WESG 2017 World Finals in Beijing later this year.

EndeRR is also through the World Finals before losing to Korean veteran Classic in StarCraft 2. Hopes were high for Enderr from the Filipino fateful since Classic is notably vulnerable when playing against Zerg, Enderr’s race of choice. Thanks to crucial victories earlier in the tournament, Enderr still managed to secure his spot in Beijing later this year despite the 3-0 stomping from Classic.

Hearthstone rep IAmTheTable, unfortunately, will not be seeing action in the Grand Finals later this year because they failed to secure top 10 in the tournament.

The Grand Finals of WESG 2017 will feature teams from all over the world and is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2018.
