The Philippine FPS community is not a stranger to Counter-Strike. During the early to late 2000’s, there wasn’t a LAN cafe without Counter-Strike installed. This led to teams being formed left and right whose intent and purpose was to just beat every other team in the city. When Counter-Stike: Global Offensive came around in 2012, CS 1.6 players naturally took up the game. This is where Mineski-CS:GO steps in.
Mineski-CSGO was formed on January 11, 2016 after the first season of The Shoot-out where Mineski (then Kingsmen) came out on top. From then on, Mineski-CS:GO has dominated in their spot as the top CS:GO team in the country.
Locally, Mineski-CS:GO is at the top of the ladder. In the Southeast Asian region on the other hand, it’s a different story. Their biggest breakthrough was during the BenQ SEA CS:GO Cup where they placed second, losing to JYP Gaming in the grand finals. All glories aside, their runs in Southeast Asian Region is all but pleasing to the die-hard fan. In 2017, their 5th-9th finishers outnumber the two podium finishes.
The group stage of the Asus ROG Masters Asia-Pacific Qualifier is going to be the proving ground for the Philippine squad as they face off against some of the teams they’ve struggled to defeat other Southeast Asian teams such as 5Power Club and Signature Gaming. They have what it takes to compete in the international stage. The question now is will they be able to breakthrough?
The ASUS ROG Masters 2017 Asia-Pacific is the culminating tournament to find out who will be the at the ASUS ROG Masters 2017 Main Stage. Sixteen of the Asia’s and Oceania’s best teams will battle it out at the SMX Convention center from October 26 to 30, 2017. Only one team will be APAC’s representatives
Tickets will be available at SM Tickets soon.
