VGJ.Thunder Wins Galaxy Battles II Championship

Evil Geniuses is denied second PH Dota 2 crown

VGJ.Thunder claimed revenge against Evil Geniuses in order to win the grand championship of Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds.

VGJ.T fought their way back to the grand finals match after being dropped to the lower bracket by EG in the upper bracket finals. The Chinese squad managed to pull off a 3-0 victory over EG’s new roster in commanding fashion.

Combo Breaker

Evil Geniuses was effectively denied their second consecutive PH Dota 2 championship following their win at the 2017 Manila Masters. VGJ.Thunder become the second Chinese team to win a championship in the Philippines after Wings Gaming‘s win in ESL One Manila 2016.

The PH Crowd Pulls Through

The first two days of the Galaxy Battles II tournament was not without its fair share of hurdles with plenty of seats left unoccupied. The final day of the tournament turned for the better, primarily thanks to the efforts of the host, Eri Neeman. Eri’s efforts and dedication to make the tournament a memorable event for all attendees shone through in the final day of the tournament. From asking the crowd members to converge near the middle seats of the venue in order to build hype for the grand final, to sincerely engaging with every single audience member he got a chance to interact with.

The organizers of Galaxy Battles II and all people involved in the event clearly pulled together to make the event as pull through. The PH esports crowd once again showed the rest of the world that there’s no other esports country venue that does it like the Philippines.

The Galaxy Battles II crowd, much like the crowds from the 2017 Manila Masters, 2016 Manila Major, and ESL One 2016 before it, has proven that the Philippines is a premier venue for esports. Congratulations to VGJ.Thunder and the people behind Galaxy Battles II!
