Virtus.pro were able to defend their Summit crown for the third straight time after crushing Fnatic-Dota in the grand finals of the DOTA Summit 8, the sixth Minor tournament of the Dota Pro Circuit.
Despite their lackluster finish at the MDL Macau minor tournament, which was primarily due to Solo, their captain and support, getting sidelined, the CIS powerhouse will still be ending their competitive Dota 2 year on a high note.

Virtus.pro won the last Dota Pro Circuit tournament of the year by only dropping a single game. They were able to reach the grand finals flawlessly by sweeping teams such as OG, Sacred, and Kinguin. Before facing Fnatic-Dota in the best-of-five bout, Virtus.pro were holding an 8-0 tournament record.
Unfortunately, it was their grand final opponent who stopped them from achieving a perfect tournament run. Fnatic-Dota snatched the second game off Virtus.pro through an Illusion-empowered strategy led by EternaLEnVy’s Terrorblade and Abed’s Phantom Lancer. Virtus.pro had the advantage throughout the entire match but failed to withstand the pushing and team fight prowess of Fnatic-Dota’s lineup.
Although they got crushed by the defending champions, the third entity of Southeast Asia’s holy trinity still made an impressive tournament run compared to their past results. Fnatic-Dota ended their group stage at the top after outplaying ppd‘s OpTic Gaming and The International 2017 4th placer LGD Gaming.
Fnatic-Dota’s silver finish at the DOTA Summit 8 also earned them their first Dota Pro Circuit points as they walk away with 202.5 points. They now sit at the 11th place of the Dota Pro Circuit ranking next to TNC Pro Team which possesses 270 Dota Pro Circuit points.
Virtus.pro, meanwhile, are sitting behind Team Secret and Team Liquid with 2565 points. Their golden finish earned them 112.5 Dota Pro Circuit points due to having Artsyle as their stand-in for Solo.
