HappyFeet gets a standin
Philippine-based Dota 2 squad HappyFeet announced a last-minute change in their official line-up as they fly to Jiaozhou, China for the World Electronic Sports Games 2017 APAC Finals.
In a Facebook post made by the organization, HappyFeet stated that they will be competing at the WESG 2017 APAC Finals with former Clutch Gamers support Marvin “Boombacs” Rushton, instead of Augustus “XRAG” Casanada,
Before getting picked up by HappyFeet, Boombacs was on a break since leaving Clutch Gamers last December. HappyFeet, however, reinstated that having Boombacs in their line-up was nothing official.
The HappyFeet management also clarified with Mineski.net the need to replace XRAG for WESG 2017 APAC Finals despite him being a Filipino. “[XRAG] joined WESG last time, but he used an Australian passport. We were worried because conflicts may arise since there are rules prohibiting teams to acquire substitutes from previous teams which joined during the qualifiers,” Yam Villanueva, manager of HappyFeet, said.
XRAG is an Australia-based, 8K MMR Dota 2 player from Maragondon, Cavite, and was standing-in for HappyFeet’s since the DreamLeague Season 8 SEA Qualifiers last November.
HappyFeet will be competing against Asia Pacific’s best Dota 2 contenders at the WESG 2017 APAC Finals starting January 11. They together with Entity Gaming, Mineski-CS:GO, and Enderr will be representing the Philippines for the lion’s share of $92,500 and a spot at the WESG 2017 main event.
