Pressing the Home Court Advantage

The 2017 League of Legends World Championship is headed to China for the first time in the tournament’s 7-year history. The Chinese teams have yet to claim a Summoner’s Cup for themselves despite making it to the grand finals twice in 2013 and 2014. Now that the Chinese teams are playing on their home court, perhaps they will fare better on the international stage with millions of their countrymen supporting them live.
A National Effort
Indiana “Froskurinn” Black has been a long time talent and analyst for the local Chinese LoL Pro League tournament. She has stood as one of the prominent LPL experts in the Chinese competitive scene since she started analyzing for tournaments. Froskurinn admires the sheer confidence that the LPL organizations bring to the international tournaments, refusing to conform to the Korean meta that most other teams and players across the world follow.
She goes on to state that there is a concerted effort in the Chinese region to prepare their three representatives for the biggest League of Legends tournament of the year. Shot callers and strategists from different teams in the LPL will be joining a joint boot camp to provide their assistance to the three teams heading to Worlds. The team effort from all the organizations to help their region succeed in Worlds is a carryover from the region’s efforts at the Rift Rivals tournament earlier this year. It’s an unprecedented move for an entire region to come together and work towards the benefit of everyone, instead of leaving each qualified team to prepare and fend for themselves. All bets are off when the 24 teams meet in China for Worlds 2017, and best be sure that the Chinese teams are not going to go out without a fight.
