OpTic Gaming quits even after Fallout Gaming decided to go on
America-based Dota 2 team OpTic Gaming was the fourth team to announce their withdrawal from the Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds, an international Dota 2 tournament which is set to take place in the Philippines this January, after Valve removed its Major status on early Friday morning.

In a tweet posted earlier today, Kodiak Shroyer, OpTic Gaming’s general manager for Dota 2, disclosed that their team has decided, after multiple conversations, to no longer participate in the Philippine-hosted Dota 2 tournament due to Valve’s decision to rescind its Dota Pro Circuit points.
Due to the recent decision from Valve and after many conversations with our team, we have decided that the OpTic Dota 2 team will not be participating in the upcoming Galaxy Battles event in the Philippines.

“It is an unfortunate decision, but one made as a team and organization that we believe is best for our squad,” Shroyer added.
OpTic Gaming’s decision to quit the tournament was made even after the Fallout Gaming, the organizers of the Galaxy Battles tournament series, announced that the event should still go on as scheduled. Top ranking Dota Pro Circuit teams like Virtus.pro, Team Liquid, and Team Secret have also announced their withdrawal.
The Galaxy Battles II should have been OpTic Gaming’s second chance to acquire Dota Pro Circuit points after failing to secure some at the DOTA Summit 8 Minor.

Shroyer also stated that more Dota is coming for OpTic Gaming as they join the North American qualifiers for multiple Dota Pro Circuit tournament such as ESL One Katowice Major, The Bucharest Major, and the SL i-League Invitational Season 4 Minor next week.
