The teams and players set to represent the Philippines in the upcoming WESG 2017 APAC Finals in Jiaozhou, China in January 2018 have been decided.
The Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournaments will each have teams fighting over the USD 92, 500 prize pool while the StarCraft2 players fight over the USD 40, 000 prize pool.
The Returning Champions
HappyFeet and the returning WESG 2016 world champions, TNC Pro Team, have both secured the PH qualifier slots for the WESG 2017 APAC qualifier.
TNC will be playing with their stand-in Armel Paul “Armel” Tabios, who takes the place of TNC’s Sivatheeban “1437” Sivanathapillai. HappyFeet field in a full Filipino with their new Filipino-Australian carry, AJ “xRag” Casanada.
“We were still fine tuning our mechanics as a team because xRag is still adjusting to the carry role from his old offlane position in Team Signify.” Jessie Cristy ‘JessieVash’ Cuyco, HappyFeet player, said. “The team was confident on qualifying for the APAC main event as long as TNC was on the other side of the group. But we never underestimated any team that we faced and we will continue to do so in the APAC main event in January.”
Mineski to APAC
HF and TNC will be joined in Jiaozhou by Mineski-CS:GO who qualified for APAC after sweeping both Imperium Pro Team and ArkAngel 2-0. Mineski field in a brand new all-Filipino roster after the departure of their player, James Carter “Retrac” Ang.
“We had a very tough road to qualify for the APAC leg of WESG 2017.” Yam Villanueva, Mineski-CS:GO Team Manager, said. “Our lineup was decided almost last minute due to the departure of one of our players, Retrac. We hope to keep our momentum going and make the Filipino fans proud, moving forward.”
World EnDerr
Caviar Napoleon “EnDerr” Marquises-Acampado will be representing the Philippines in the APAC leg of the WESG 2017 StarCraft2 tournament after his 2-0 victory over “Freeedom”.
The Filipino Zerg player will face off against 19 other SC2 palyers from across the globe to qualify for the global finals.
The WESG 2017 Asia-Pacific Qualifier is set to take place on January 11-14, 2018 for all of the games. So be sure to support the Filipino representatives!
