The 2017 Vainglory World Championship is only a little under a month away. The groups have already been drawn and only one team remains unannounced.

The North American region will be represented by three teams; Cloud9, Team SoloMid, and Tribe Gaming. These three teams will be fighting for NA in the tournament at Singapore in December.

We had a chance to talk with Tribe’s captain, Daniel “MaxGreen” Choi, to get his insight on his team’s path to VG Worlds 2017 and what we can all expect from his team in the tournament next month.

Questions from Mineski.net are in bold.

Kiboo: Congratulations with your qualification to the 2017 World Championship! Let’s start with you and your team. When you’re not competing or training, do you guys hang out as friends?

MaxGreen: Living in Canada, I don’t really live near the rest of my teammates, so I don’t get to meet with my teammates in person very much. When we do meet at live Vainglory tournaments, we get along pretty well.

Before we talk about making it to Worlds, can we talk a bit about your loss to Team SoloMid on the way to the finals? How did it feel possibly losing your shot at Worlds after that defeat?

TSM has a track record of excellent performance, especially in matches that matter. When we lost against them, we knew we lost against a great team and gave it all we got during that series and over the last year. We were confident that the hard work we put in to improve as a team would give us a fighting chance to secure a Worlds spot, and were very happy when we received the news that our dedication had paid off.

Do you feel that there’s any added pressure for you and your team heading into Worlds as a Wildcard?

I think fighting our way to finals in the last western unified championship gave me and my team confidence that we can compete with the best teams without losing sight of our goal. Coming into Worlds as a Wildcard as opposed to a season champion makes us an underdog in the competition, which to me is less added pressure for us.

Which team are you most eager to face at Worlds?

I’m most eager to face Rox Armada at Worlds because they are the reigning world champions and I’d like to see how well we can compete against druid’s and Mango’s incredible carries supplemented by pQq’s playmaking,

So what can your fans expect from MaxGreen and Tribe Gaming at World?

We’ve been known to take our gameplay to the next level at live events, and we’d definitely like to showcase that at Worlds and give our fans a reason to root hard for us!

Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview and good luck at Worlds next month!

No problem! And thanks!
