The International 2018 Battle Pass owners’ complaints about the Immortal Treasures have finally been addressed after the Valve Corporation fixed a bug which affected the escalation of drop rates.

Details about the incident were released on Friday by the American video game developers through an official statement written from their end. They found out about the bug after a deeper investigation prompted by the community’s dissatisfaction about not getting the Witch Doctor Ultra Rare drop despite receiving the Phantom Assassin and Outworld Devourer Ultra Rare Drops from the previous Immortal Treasures.

We eventually found a bug that existed for all the Immortal treasures this season. It primarily affected players who opened a very large number of treasures, causing the drop rates to not escalate as quickly as they did last year. And since the volume of Treasure 3s were lower than the other two, it was a more visible bug to players,” Valve stated.

Valve primarily thought about the complaints as mere ‘anecdotal cases and selection bias’, especially after finding out in their initial investigation that there were no differences in the drop rates of the three Ultra Rare Immortals. They also highlighted how the number of the third Immortal Treasure is significantly lower compared to the first and second Immortal Treasures, making the Witch Doctor Immortal the rarest.

As a solution, Valve publicized that they are re-running the rolls for The International 2018 Battle Pass owners’ opened and unopened Immortal Treasures and will be awarding the items as soon as the bug is fixed. 10 Battle Pass levels will also be rewarded to the owners for their troubles.

To top it all off, Valve has also added four pieces of the first, second, and third Immortal Treasures for Battle Pass owners reaching the Level 615 reward, the Promise of Eminent Revival.

The Dota 2 community lauded Valve for being transparent about their operations, as well as taking swift action about customer-related issues.

The International 2018 Battle Pass is an in-game feature that provides additional content which can be purchased for as low as $9.99. A percentage of the Battle Pass sales will contribute to the growing pize pool of The International 2018, the grandest Dota 2 world championship which will be held at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada on August 15.
